Adobe Firefly Makes Video Editing Easier Than Ever

Adobe issued a major update to its AI-based Firefly video editor that allows users to quickly generate footage and a structured first cut from uploaded b-roll footage.

“When inspiration strikes, video creators need tools that keep pace with the speed of their minds,” Adobe’s Mike Polner writes. “They need to iterate quickly and brainstorm across different media types as they stretch their ideas in new creative directions. There’s no time to stare at a blank page or timeline. They need to fill their timeline quickly, so they can build on top of it and when necessary, tear it down and build anew.”

To get there, Firefly now supports a new Quick Cut feature. Quick Cut lets users upload long takes of content–unboxing videos, perhaps, or testing footage–and transform it into a first cut of a completed video using natural language. Just describe what it is you want from the video–a product demo, an interview, a travel video, or whatever–and Firefly will generate a narrative-first cut that you can then edit further using the traditional timeline-based editing tools.

Adobe says that Quick Cut is ideal for product reviewers, reporters, podcasters, marketers, and just about anyone else who struggles to take raw footage and turn it into a finished video. You can choose an aspect ratio, pacing, duration, and optional b-roll footage up front, and the workflow is ideal for experimentation.

Adobe notes that you can get started with Firefly by signing up for Firefly Pro, Firefly Premium, or a 4,000-credit, 7,000-credit, or 50,000-credit plan before March 16 to get unlimited image and Firefly video generations up to 2K resolution in the Adobe Firefly app. You can learn more about Firefly on the Adobe website.
