Amazon Introduces New, Cheaper Eero With Alexa Integration

Amazon is introducing a brand new Eero deice today after the company acquired it back in February. The company’s new Eero device is much cheaper, starting at $99 and $249 for a 3-pack. The new device will first launch in Europe this November.

Amazon is focusing on the simplicity of the new Eero, though it’s not clear if it will offer any better coverage than the previous Eero devices. Amazon says the device takes 10 minutes or less to set up.

It offers the same whole-home TrueMesh WiFi coverage, dual-band radio, and Eero’s Secure/Secure+ services.

But more importantly, the new Eero comes with Alexa integration so you will be able to use Alexa to control your WiFi. That’s the same idea Google is planning to adopt for the upcoming Google WiFi. Amazon isn’t limiting Alexa’s ability to control the WiFi to Eero only — in fact, it’s launching a new API that will let other companies integrate Alexa support, with ASUS and TP-Link routers set to get Alexa support sometime this Fall.

I've been waffling between eero and orbi but eero's price just made it hard. If this works just as well, I may go with eero.

Precisely what I DO NOT WANT in my Eero network. I hope it can be turned off with something more subtle than a hammer.
