It’s been a long time coming, but the 16-inch MacBook Pro is finally here. After months of wait, Apple is today announcing the brand new 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Apple’s new 16-inch MacBook Pro will be replacing the company’s 15-inch MacBook Pro, and it comes with some key improvements to the MacBook Pro hardware.
First things first, the new MacBook Pro comes with a new keyboard design. Apple is finally getting rid of its butterfly keyboard design, replacing it with a new scissor-switch keyboard design that’s more reliable than before and offers 1mm key travel. The new keyboard design is being called the “Magic Keyboard”. The new design also brings back the physical Esc key, which sits next to the Touch Bar. “The new Magic Keyboard also features a physical Escape key and an inverted-“T” arrangement for the arrow keys, along with Touch Bar and Touch ID, for a keyboard that delivers the best typing experience ever on a Mac notebook,” says Apple.
The new MacBook Pro also has a bigger display than the previous 15.4-inch model. The 16-inch Retina display panel on the new MacBook Pro offers a resolution of 3072×1920 pixels, P3 wide color gamut and 500 nits of brightness.
Performance-wise, the new MacBook Pro features the 9th gen Intel processors, and you can get up to an 8-core processor, up to 64GB of RAM, up to 8TB of SSD storage (largest ever in a notebook), and the Radeon Pro 5000M graphics with up to 8GB of VRAM. To drive all that power, the new MacBook Pro comes with a 100-Wh battery. The device also features the “most advanced thermal architecture” ever in a Mac notebook, allowing for a 28% increase in airflow.
The new device also features louder speakers, thanks to the new six-speaker sound system, and studio-quality mics that are apparently capable of rivalling the “popular professional-grade” microphones.
Apple’s new 16-inch MacBook Pro will start at $2,399. You can pre-order right now.
