Apple’s iPhone 15 Event Will be On September 12

Apple’s iPhone 15 event will held on September 12 at 10 AM PT, the company announced today. As usual, the event will be streamed online, and there should be a lot to talk about.

If the latest leaks about Apple’s product pipeline are correct, the iPhone 15 lineup will finally ditch Apple’s proprietary Lightning port for USB-C. Lighting first made its debut on the iPhone 5 back in 2012, which was years before USB-C became the new charging standard. Apple may have probably stuck with Lighting for a couple more years if the company didn’t need to follow the EU’s new common charger law.   

This year, we should once again see the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus use last year’s A16 chip, while the two Pro models will come with a brand new A17 chip. However, the Dynamic Island introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro last year should make its way to the iPhone 15 lineup this year, though the rest of the design will remain unchanged.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, however, are expected to feature slimmer bezels and a new titanium frame. The two models may also replace the mute switch on the left side with a button that can be customized in iOS.

In addition to these new iPhones, which may come with a price increase, we should also see Apple announce new AirPods with a USB-C charging port. Lastly, the Apple Watch Series 9 and a second-gen Apple Watch Ultra should be on the agenda.
