Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple One Bundles Are Getting Price Hikes

Apple is raising the prices of its TV+, Arcade, and News+ subscriptions today, and the price bumps are quite significant. The three Apple One bundles that combine iCloud, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and other services are also impacted.

Starting today, Apple TV+ is no longer one of the cheapest streaming services on the market as its price is increasing from $6.99/month to $9.99/month. Apple TV+ originally launched at $4.99/month back in 2019, but Apple raised it to $6.99/month last year. Now, its price has doubled in just four years. With Apple TV+, the company chose to focus on quality over quantity, but the subscription service is now far less competitive unless you really care about Apple’s exclusive shows.

“Since launching four years ago, Apple TV+ has made history for streaming services by crossing major milestones in a short span of time, thanks to its extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment,” Apple said in a statement shared with Bloomberg.

Apple Arcade, which provides access to a selection of games across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS is also seeing its price go from $4.99/month to $6.99/month. Moreover, Apple News+, which provides access to over 300 magazines and articles from select newspapers in the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia, is going from $9.99/month to $12.99 a month.

As for the price increases for Apple One bundles, here’s what to expect:

  • Apple One Individual (50GB iCloud+/TV+Music/Arcade): $19.95/month (previously $16.95)
  • Apple One Family (200GB iCloud+/TV+Music/Arcade): $25.99/month (previously $22.95)
  • Apple One Premier (2TB iCloud+/TV+Music/Arcade/Fitness+/News+): $37.95/month (previously $32.95)

The price increases are also affecting international markets. The timing for this announcement is quite strange as Apple just announced another Fall keynote on October 30. The company will also announce its Q4 financial results next week on November 2.

A lot of services have announced price increases in the past couple of months, and Apple also raised the price of Apple Music from $9.99/month to $10.99/month last fall. Of course, creating exclusive content for Apple TV+, Netflix, and other subscription services costs a lot of money, but the media industry as a whole really needs to be careful with price increases if it doesn’t want consumers to go back to pirating content.
