Firefox Relay to Improve Privacy With In-Browser Email Masks

Firefox Relay

Mozilla is improving Firefox Relay, the privacy feature that can mask your email while browsing online by integrating it directly into its web browser. Firefox Relay was originally launched as a browser extension, but users can also generate email masks on other browsers and mobile devices from the Relay dashboard.

With a free Firefox account, Relay can create 5 email masks, which are private email addresses that will forward messages to your true email address. Mozilla’s privacy feature can also remove email trackers from emails forwarded to you.

“Firefox Relay is right there when a site asks for your email address. Just choose ‘Protect your email address’ from the drop-down. If you don’t see it immediately, you can always right-click and choose Relay to make a mask for any form field,” Mozilla explained.

Firefox Relay offers a Premium version that includes one subdomain alias to create unlimited email aliases, the option to use your email aliases to reply to emails directly, and more. The Premium version is currently available for $0.99/month.

The integration of Firefox Relay into the web browser will roll out to all users logged in with a Firefox account over the coming weeks. Mozilla also announced the release of Firefox 117 today, which adds support for credit card autofill in more languages and fixes a scrolling bug on YouTube video lists.
