Google Meet Now Lets Users Transfer a Call Between Devices

Google Meet Transfer call

Google Meet, the video communication app that’s part of Google Workspace is adding a new feature that lets users seamlessly switch between devices during a call. The feature, which works across PC, iOS, and Android, is rolling out now to Google Workspace users and it supports both work and personal Google accounts.

“Beginning today, you can smoothly transfer between devices while on a Google Meet call without hanging up and rejoining,” Google explained on the Google Workspace blog. “For example, if you were taking a Meet call on your mobile phone or tablet, you could smoothly switch to your laptop when you arrived at your desk.”

When users are already in a Google Meet call, they will see a “Switch here” option when joining the meeting on another device. Selecting it will transfer the call to the new device without any interruption.

Lastly, Google Meet will also let users join the same meeting on two devices. After selecting the meeting they’re currently in on another device, users can just click “Join here too” under “Other joining options” to keep the meeting on both of their devices. Overall, this should be a nice touch of flexibility for people using multiple devices to join meetings throughout the day.
