Mozilla Firefox is about to introduce an easy-to-use Profile manager years after other browsers got this capability. The feature will start rolling out to all users on October 14, and Mozilla promises to make the experience of using multiple profiles more private.
Profiles management has been available for a subset of Firefox users since the release of the version 138 of the browser back in April. Before that, a more barebones profile manager was available as a hidden feature by typing “about:profiles” in Firefox’s address bar.
The new Profile Manager in Firefox will allow users to create different instances of the browser with their own bookmarks, logins, history, extensions, colors, and themes. Users will also be able to upload their own avatars to make these custom spaces stand out.
“Firefox is built with privacy as a default. We don’t know your age, gender, precise location, name of your profile, or other information Big Tech collects and profits from. Each profile keeps its own browsing data separate,” the company emphasized in the announcement.
Firefox is no longer the juggernaut that it once was, but it probably remains the best non-Chromium web browser on the market with solid tracking protection features. On the Chromium side, Brave is highly recommended if you care about your privacy.
