Arc Sync Comes to iPhone

Arc for all

As part of its “Arc for all” strategy, the Browser Company today expanded the availability of its Arc Sync functionality to the Arc Search app on the iPhone. This allows Arc browser users on Windows and Mac to sync their spaces, pinned tabs, and today tabs between desktop and mobile.

The Browser Company first moved the Mac version of its web browser to Arc Sync in February, dropping the Apple-only iCloud-based sync it previously used. It then added this feature to the Windows version of the browser in late March.

Arc Search is a slightly different animal. It’s an iPhone-only app (for now), but it’s not really a web browser. Instead, it’s positioned as a new way to use AI to get answers on the web, a sort of replacement for a traditional search engine. But with this addition, the app moves a bit more closely to its desktop cousins, and it might be seen as a step in a direction the company previously revealed in which there will just be a single app, called Arc, across all platforms.

Of course, “all platforms” implies Android too, and on that note, The Browser Company revealed that it is hiring Android developers. “We’re slowly turning our Arc for all dream into a reality,” it noted in an email-based announcement.

If you’d like to learn more, The Browser Company has published two videos to YouTube, an overview of Arc Sync on iOS and a tutorial for getting Arc Sync working in Arc for Windows and Mac and Arc Search for iPhone.

Oh, and the company said that Arc for Windows will be generally available to all Windows users “later this month.”
