I finally played Call of Duty and I’m very disappointed

Just finished playing Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare (2007) on my PC.

For a long time now I’ve been wanting to play CoD as I thought this must be the best FPS ever made since it has been universally praised. Even the extra price on Steam I thought was justified, even for a 16 year old game. But now after finally getting to play it, I was extremely disappointed. Within a few seconds into the game I realized this was not even remotely anything like the FPS games I’ve always played and liked, such as DOOM, Quake, Half-Life, etc. Something was very different about this game: regenerating health, two weapon limitation, unlimited ammo, grenade thrown/melee with just a key, rushed missions with no sense of exploration, gameplay heavily dictated by mission objectives at the time, frequent autosaves, etc. Only later I realized this game was made for consoles, not PCs. Maybe it is fun to play on consoles, I don’t know, I’ve never owned an Xbox or PS, but either way I don’t consider it a true FPS game, like DOOM. This was the first time I played any CoD title, and I think it would also be the last.
