Changes in Remote Desktop between Windows 10 and 11?

I need to use remote desktop to connect to a computer used on an instrument at work. I had no issues doing this when using Windows 10 to remote in. The university is rolling out Windows 11 and upgraded my laptop. Now, when I remote in, it crashes the software that is used to run the instrument and the instrument computer needs to be rebooted. My question is what changed between Windows 10 and Windows 11? Would there be a way to install and use the previous version?

I contacted the instrument vender also and they just said that they don’t support using remote desktop and basically not their problem to solve. Or, their solution is to not use it I guess.
