Lastpass to Microsoft Authenticator issue

I had asked this in an Paul’s story post from about 2 weeks ago but doubt it’s getting much traffic anymore.

I’m switching over from Lastpass to Msft Authenticator for my passwords. I’ve exported all my passwords now into Authenticator and it’s seemingly working fine for Edge browser and sites from my pc and android device. But what’s the secret to get Microsoft Authenticator password feature to offer to auto-fill my passwords into my Android apps and populate my app passwords (i.e. bank) as Lastpass is able to do?

In the Microsoft Authenticator settings, there's an option for "Set as autofill provider". Make sure that's ticked on. You'll also want to tick the option for "Autofill on more apps and sites". This will take you into your phone's accessibility settings. You'll want to go into "Installed services" and check off Authenticator. I have a Galaxy S9 and that's how it works on my phone at least. I figure any up-to-date Android device would be similar.

With those two options, Microsoft Authenticator should behave almost identically to LastPass on Android. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and I haven't had any complaints.

You have to log into the android app first. You'll then be prompted to save the password for the app in authenticator. Afterwards, you'll see that you have two passwords saved in authenticator, one for the browser and one for the app.
