Microsoft no longer providing Office downloads via Store

So I’m noticing that if you purchase Office 365 Personal or Home from outside of the Store, you can’t download the software via the Store anymore. If you click “Install” from within the Store, it takes you to the Office website and downloads the old-style Click2run installer.

Is it just me, or is this yet another UWP failure?

Good. The version in the Store was broken and wasn't updated as regularly.

Unfortunately it's normal now, they removed the ability to download Office apps from the store directly a few months ago.

It's a shame really, because I could only install the apps I need, now it's all or nothing.

I think this changed happened (or started, at least) a little while back. And it's classic Microsoft. They're taking things that have been part of the OS for decades and that no normal person would go search for in the store–notepad, terminal emulator, etc.–and putting them in the store, while at the same time taking things that actually make sense in the store like Office out. So basically it's going to be a "store" that never sells anything. They should kill it off and update Notepad and the new command line thing via Windows Updates. This lines up perfectly with the commentary in Ask Paul a couple days ago about there being no vision for Windows or for Windows developers.
