Rockstar Games to Reveal First GTA VI Trailer Next Month

GTA VI

After a hacker leaked the first gameplay footage of GTA VI back in September 2022, Rockstar Games is finally ready to share more details about the much-anticipated game. Today, the company announced that it will release the first trailer for the next GTA game in early December.

The brief message also emphasized that next month will mark the 25th anniversary of the company. It was also preceded by a report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier suggesting that an announcement regarding GTA VI was coming this week.

It’s been 10 years since Rockstar Games released GTA V, which has now sold 185 million copies since launch. It’s the #2 best-selling video game of all time after Minecraft, which has now sold over 300 million copies.

GTA V has been a true cultural phenomenon, and its GTA Online multiplayer component still remains very popular to this day. Rockstar has capitalized on the game’s enduring momentum to release a remastered version of it on current-gen consoles, and the Xbox Series X|S version of the game is currently available on Xbox Game Pass alongside the Xbox One version.

GTA VI is expected to be the first game in the series to feature a female as one of its protagonists. Moreover, the action is reportedly going back to Vice City, Rockstar’s fictional version of Miami that was last seen in 2002’s GTA: Vice City.

2023 was packed with critically acclaimed games such as Baldur’s Gate III, the Nintendo Switch exclusive Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Dead Space and Resident Evil 4 remakes, as well as the freshly released Alan Wake 2. We don’t know yet if GTA VI will be ready to ship in 2024, but the game is already guaranteed to be a hit. And if you’ve played and enjoyed previous games in the series (as I did), you’re probably hoping to see Rockstar raise the bar in game design and storytelling even further.
