Fallout 4 is Getting a Free Upgrade For Current-Gen Consoles on April 25

Fallout 4 free upgrade current-gen consoles

After Amazon Prime’s new Fallout TV show received critical acclaim this week, Bethesda has just announced that the much-anticipated free next-gen update for Fallout 4 will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 consoles on April 25. The PC, Xbox One, and PS4 versions of the games are also being updated as well with bug fixes and stability improvements.

On current-gen consoles, the free Fallout 4 update will offer new Performance and Quality graphics mode with increased resolutions and up to 60FPS gameplay. The Xbox One version of the game already benefits from the FPS Boost feature on Xbox Series X|S consoles, but the new native client should offer better performance and graphics.

All versions of Fallout 4 are also getting stability improvements, login and quest fixes, and free Creation Club items on April 25. On PC, the free update will also add widescreen and ultra-widescreen support, fixes to Creation Kit, mod access, and more. The game will also come to the Epic Games Store later this month, and it will be verified for Valve’s Steam Deck.

To celebrate the launch of the Fallout TV series on Prime Video this week, Bethesda is also making Fallout 76, the first Fallout game with online multiplayer free to play between today, April 11, and April 18. If you have Amazon Prime, the Xbox and PC versions of Fallout 76 are also free to claim with this month’s Prime Gaming perks.

Last but not least, Amazon also made Fallout 3: GOTY and Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition free to play for Prime members on its Luna cloud gaming service. If you use Nvidia’s GeForce Now, which as a free tier, Fallout 76 and Fallout 4 are also now available on the service.
