Diablo 4 is the First Microsoft Game to Be Enhanced for the PlayStation 5 Pro

Diablo IV PlayStation 5 Pro enhanced

Microsoft and its Blizzard studio are already on board with Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro console. Rod Fergusson, SVP and General Manager of Diablo at Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 4 and its upcoming Vessel of Hatred Expansion will be enhanced for the PS5 Pro.

“I’ve been getting this question quite a bit recently and I’m happy to say that Diablo IV and Vessel of Hatred will indeed be PS5 Pro Enhanced, Fergusson posted on X yesterday. “Very proud of our hardworking team to make this happen. More details at a later date.”

As of today, Sony shared a list of over 50 games that will be PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced. There are various first-party games in the list including the two Horizon games, the two The Last of Us games, and the three Marvel’s Spiderman games, as well as other blockbuster single-player games such as Hogwarts Legacy and the PS5 exclusive Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

There are also popular games from annualized franchises such as EA Sports FC 25, F1 24, and Madden NFL 25 that will be PS5 Pro enhanced, though Call of Duty is currently absent from the list. However, if Sony did send PS5 Pro developer kits to Blizzard for Diablo IV, it seems likely that Activision also received some for the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops 6. Sony used to have a marketing deal with Activision for Call of Duty, but that changed now that Microsoft owns the IP and will put Black Ops 6 on Game Pass on day one.

With Microsoft apparently not planning to do a mid-gen refresh for its Xbox Series X|S consoles, the company’s studios may soon be tasked with optimizing their games for the market leader and the most powerful console. And if the PlayStation 5 Pro becomes the best console to experience Xbox games, it’s not exactly why anyone would want to purchase an Xbox at this point except for Game Pass, which is still a great deal.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro will be released on November 7, and it’s priced at $699.99/£699.99/€799.99. The console will come with a 2TB SSD and an upgraded GPU that supports advanced ray-tracing and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, a proprietary AI upscaling solution. Despite of its high-price and optional disc drive, the promise of the best graphical fidelity without compromising on performance is likely going to appeal to many console gamers.
