OneDrive 4.7 for Windows Phone Adds Multi-Account Support, More

Microsoft released a major update to OneDrive for Windows Phone, adding support for multiple personal accounts, a new photo albums view and optional PIN code security protection.

This is a pretty serious update.

New features include:

Multiple personal account support. In previous versions of OneDrive for Windows Phone, you could configure multiple business accounts (OneDrive for Business) but only one consumer OneDrive account. Now, you can configure multiple personal accounts too. (You can’t even do this in the Modern or desktop OneDrive solutions.)

Photo albums view. Previously available only on the web, you can now create, view and share photo albums from the Windows Phone app. Microsoft notes that albums aren’t like traditional folders, but doesn’t really explain why: they’re just virtual folders like we’ve had in Windows since Vista. But aside from aggregating photos from around your OneDrive storage, albums also provide a more pleasant experience for view photos with larger thumbnails, edge-to-edge photos, and a nice collage view.

PIN code support. You can now optionally add a PIN code to the app so that others can’t access, change, or delete your files.

OneDrive 4.7 is available for Windows Phone 7.5, 8, and 8.1 for free from the Windows Phone Store.
