Windows 11 Insider Build 25140 is Here with More Bug Fixes

Windows 11 PC with Start Menu

Microsoft has just released the Windows 11 preview build 25140 for Insiders in the Dev channel. If the previous build 25136 brought File Explorer tabs to select testers, today’s build only brings bug fixes and no new features.

The most notable updates in the build 25140 include a fix for an issue that could prevent users from dragging tabs to rearrange them. Microsoft also fix a bug that was causing some people to unexpectedly see an error 0x80070026 when copying files from network drives.

On Windows on ARM PCs, Microsoft has also fixed an x64 emulation bug causing certain apps to crash with an error code 0xc0000409. However, Microsoft actually recommends testers with a Surface Pro X to skip this build, as these devices may display a black screen when attempting to resume from hibernate on this build.

The Windows Insider team didn’t mention if File Explorer tabs would roll out to more Dev Channel testers with this build. The new feature is also rolling out to Insiders in the Beta channel currently testing Windows 11 version 22H2, though it’s not clear yet if File Explorer Tabs will actually ship with this update later this year.

If you want to do a clean install, Microsoft also released ISOs for today’s build 25140, and you download them from Microsoft’s website.
