Windows 10 Version 22H2 is Now Available in the Release Preview Channel

Microsoft has released today the first preview build for Windows 10 version 22H2. Today’s announcement focuses mostly on commercial devices, which can get the update through the Release Preview Channel and other sources.

“Commercial devices configured for the Release Preview Channel via the Windows Insider Program Settings page or via Windows Update for Business policy, whether through Microsoft Intune or through Group Policy, will automatically be offered Windows 10, version 22H2 as an optional update. Windows 10, version 22H2 is also now available via Windows Server Update Service and Azure Marketplace,” the Windows Insider team explained today.

This first Windows 10 version 22H2 build is available for regular Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel via the “seeker” experience in Windows Update. “Once an Insider updates their PC to Windows 10, version 22H2, they will continue to automatically receive new servicing updates through Windows Update,” the team said.

Microsoft didn’t mention any new features in this first Windows 10 version 22H2 build, and we couldn’t get any more details when we asked. There’s still a possibility that some new features are currently being disabled and could be turned on later via an enablement package, though that’s not guaranteed at all.

Following the release of Windows 11 last fall, Microsoft said that Windows 10 would switch to an annual release cycle until the OS reaches end of support in 2025. Even though Windows 10 probably won’t get flashy new features going forward, it still has much more users than Windows 11, and enterprise users aren’t rushing to upgrade to the latter.
