Microsoft Gets Ready to Push Windows 10 Version 22H2 to All Users

Windows 10 PC

Microsoft is getting ready to push Windows version 22H2, the latest version of the OS released in October to all Windows 10 users. In a message recently posted on the Windows message center (via Windows Central), Microsoft announced that it will start pushing the update to consumers and non-managed business PCs that are reaching out of servicing.

On June 13, 2023, Windows 10 version 21H2 will reach end of support for Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations users. However, Windows 10 version 22H2 will be supported until October 2025, and this is the version Windows 10 users should be running to remain protected against the latest security threats.

“To help keep you protected and productive, Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update for Windows 10 consumer devices and non-managed business devices that are at, or within several months of, reaching end of servicing. This keeps your device supported and receiving monthly updates that are critical to security and ecosystem health,” the company explained.

Microsoft has already confirmed that Windows 10 version 22H2 will be the “final” version of the OS, meaning that there is no 23H2 update coming later this year. However, 2025 won’t be the end of the road for the OS. The LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) edition of Windows 10 version 1809 will reach end of support in January 2029, while Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 will be supported until January 2032.

If your Windows 10 PC does meet the requirements for Windows 11, Microsoft strongly encourages you to upgrade to the new OS for free. However, most businesses may not be ready yet to abandon an OS that is now very stable and just receives monthly security updates with no workflow-disrupting additions.
