November Patch Tuesday Updates Are Available for Windows 11 Versions 23H2 and 22H2

Windows 11 November 2023 PAtch Tuesday

Microsoft has just released the November Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2. As a reminder, Windows 11 version 23H2 was released two weeks ago as an enablement package the version 22H2 of the OS, and you can get it by toggling the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” button in Windows Update.

If you’re on Windows 11 version 22H2, today’s Patch Tuesday update (KB5032190) includes all the new features that Microsoft released as a big optional update on September 26: That includes Copilot in Windows, the enhanced volume mixer in Quick settings, the modernized File Explorer, the Never Combine mode for the taskbar, and the new Windows Backup app.

This “Moment 4” update includes over 150 new features in total, and all of them are also enabled by default in Windows 11 version 23H2, which Microsoft released on October 31. The latest version of Windows 11, however, also brought a couple of additional changes on top of the Moment 4 update: It replaces the “Chat” app that shipped with Windows 11 with Microsoft Teams (free), and it also adds a new “system” label for Windows 11 system components in the Start Menu.

Going forward, Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2 will share the same servicing channel. In practice, today’s KB5032190 update will install the build 22631.2715 if you’re running Windows 11 version 23H2, or the build 22621.2715 if you’re still on the version 22H2 of the OS. Anyway, the release notes don’t mention any new features in addition to what Microsoft already detailed for the September 26 update and for the release of Windows 11 version 23H2.

For Windows 10 users, the KB5032189 update is available for the versions 22H2 and 21H2 of the OS, but it includes no new features. However, a recent report suggested that Microsoft may bring its new Copilot AI assistant to Windows 10, and maybe the company will have some news about that at its Ignite conference this week.
