Windows 11 Beta Build 22635.2915 is Out With Voice Access Improvements

Windows 11 Voice Access

Microsoft released yesterday the last Windows 11 Insider builds of 2023 for testers on the Canary and Dev Channels, and the company is following up today with the Windows 11 Build 22635.2915 for the Beta Channel. For Insiders who turned on the “Get the latest updates as they are available” toggle in Windows Update, this new build introduces various improvements for the Voice Access accessibility feature.

On Windows 11, Voice Access is about to replace the Windows Speech Recognition feature from the Windows Vista era, which will be removed from the OS in a future update. Voice Access uses on-device speech recognition, and it’s getting support for new languages (French, German, and Spanish) and multi-display support in this build.

“You can now use all voice access features on multiple displays, including number and grid overlays which were previously unavailable on any display other than the primary one,” the Windows Insider team explained today. Insiders can also test Voice shortcuts, which are custom voice commands with one or multiple actions. This is currently only available when using Voice Access in English

Today’s build 22635.2915 also brings the same improvements to Windows 365 Boot and Windows 365 Switch that were previously introduced in the Dev build 23601 last week. The new Dedicated mode for Windows 365 Boot lets users log in to their Cloud PC from the Windows 11 login screen using Windows Hello for Business. Moreover, Windows 365 Switch now lets users disconnect their Cloud PC right from their local PC with a new Disconnect experience in Task View.

Starting today, Microsoft is also rolling out a Notepad update to Insiders on the Beta Channel. This new version adds a New Edit with Notepad option in the context menu in File Explorer, as well as a character count display in the status bar for selected text.
