Windows 11 Microsoft Store is About to Get a Major Speed Boost

Windows 11 Microsoft Store

Microsoft may be about to address one of the most annoying things about its Microsoft Store on Windows 11, and that’s not the app gap. Yesterday, the company started rolling out a new Store update to Insiders that should bring significant performance improvements.

Three years ago, Windows 11 came with a redesigned version of the Microsoft Store that eventually made its way to Windows 10. At the time, the company said that the new Store had been rebuilt from the ground up and that opening and navigating between pages was 35% faster than before. However, anyone using the Store app today can notice that it can be quite sluggish, especially on startup.

Well, according to Sergio Pedri, a Senior Software Engineer working on the Microsoft Store, Windows Insiders should notice “major performance improvements” after installing the latest version of the Store. “The splash screen can now be entirely skipped in most cases and launching the app feels a lot faster,” the engineer said.

You can see these improvements for yourself in the GIF below:

Hopefully, It shouldn’t be too long before this Store update becomes available for non-Insiders. Another Microsoft app that probably needs some major performance improvements is the new web-based Outlook, which despite months of testing still doesn’t feel great to use compared to UWP-based Mail and Calendar apps. And that’s actually another Microsoft has rebuilt from scratch.
