Microsoft Acknowledges VPN Connection Issues on Windows 11 and Windows 10

Windows 11 PC

Microsoft is investigating an issue causing VPN connections to fail on Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server. The company explained on its Windows Health Dashboard (via Bleeping Computer) that the issues may occur after users install the April 2024 security updates.

“Windows devices might face VPN connection failures after installing the April 2024 security update or the April 2024 non-security preview update,” the company explained. “We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.”

The VPN connectivity issues affect all versions of Windows 11 as well as Windows 10 versions 21H2 and 22H2. For Windows Server, all versions released since Windows Server 2008 are also affected.

As of this writing, Microsoft gave no ETA for a software fix, and we may have to wait for the optional “D” release coming later this month. In the meantime, the only temporary workaround appears to be the uninstallation of the April 2024 security updates.
