Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Dev Build 26120.1340

Windows 11 PC

The Windows Insider team kicked off the week with a late flight on the Dev Channel yesterday. The Windows 11 Dev build 26120.1340 improves the spelling and corrections experience in Voice Access, and it also brings minor changes to Mouse settings and Energy recommendations. As usual, these changes will roll out gradually to Dev Channel testers who turned on the Windows Update toggle to get early access to new features.

For Windows 11 users relying on the Voice Access accessibility feature, the Windows 11 Dev build 26120.1340 makes the spelling and corrections experience available for the entire voice access session. “The spelling experience will now enable you to dictate the characters at a faster speed and offer more editing flexibility inside the experience with dictation commands, namely selection, deletion and text navigation commands,” the Windows Insider team explained yesterday.

With this build, Microsoft is also rolling out now Energy Saver notifications that will ask users to plug in their laptops when the battery level reaches 20% while Energy Saver is set to “Always On.” On laptops with HDR displays, the Energy recommendations section of the Settings app will also suggest users to turn off HDR to conserve energy.

In the Settings app, Microsoft is also updating the Mouse settings page with a new toggle for turning off “Enhance pointer direction.” This feature is designed to make the mouse pointer work more accurately when you’re moving the mouse slowly, but some users may not like it. Microsoft is also adding a new option for changing mouse scrolling direction on this same page. These two changes are already available on the Canary Channel, and you can also still find them in the legacy “Mouse Properties” app.
