Microsoft’s Windows 10 November 2019 Update Is Almost Ready

Microsoft’s Windows 10 19H2 update is almost ready for the public. The company announced last night that the 19H2 update, also known as the November 2019 Update, is being prepared for public release. The company is starting the process by bringing the November 2019 Update to the Release Preview ring today.

Microsoft is releasing build 18363.418 to Insiders in the Release Preview ring, which is the final build of Windows 10 19H2 that the company will continue to update via Cumulative Updates for further enhancements.

Windows 10 19H2 has been quite a messy release for Microsoft. The company introduced a new Controlled Feature Rollout system for 19H2 that involved releasing 2 separate, but identical builds that come with some features turned on for some users, while others are left out. The whole rollout has been quite confusing, though Microsoft recently fixed that issue.

Once Microsoft does release the Windows 10 November Update, do keep in mind that it will come as a regular Cumulative Update instead of a full-blown Feature Update. The idea here is that since the update is more about minor changes, it makes sense to deliver it as a regular cumulative update instead of a full-blown update.

The mess is not really fixed, for me.

I do not understand why my Slow Ring partitions are still "Up to date" on 18362.10022, while Release Preview has moved to 18363. It is still messy.

And they haven't communicated a logical reason that makes it necessary to make it this messy.

Well, that’s going to be fun if it gets postponed for some reason

Just made my first call with the YOUR PHONE APP Calls (in preview). When I first dialed my friend he was busy and did not answer but called back. By that time I'd left my phone in another room but the Calls in preview app rang and I was able to answer it. The call quality was great as it was on my galaxy S10+. Just to note the laptop is a lenovo yoga.

So, 18363.418 could be what everyone on 1903 gets as Version 1909, unless there are showstoppers requiring more Insider testing, or will those get fixed in non-insider updates after 1909 is out?

Hint: If you're running Version 1903 Build 18362.329 or later, you already got the bits. All you need is to install KB4517245 (about 20 KB in size), also known as the "enablement package", to make the switch. This will increment the build number to 18363 artificially, since system files remain the same between 1903 and 1909. So technically, this is more or less a "fake release" because it's just a normal cumulative update plus a tiny package that enables some new stuff in it.

I read this strategy as a silent retract from semi-annual releases, and moving on to a yearly full-upgrade cycle. I mean, they even fake build numbers now to make you believe this is some kind of a real update - instead of making a commitment and agree that two releases per year is maybe a little too much.
