Apple to Launch Touchscreen MacBook Pros, New iMac, and iPad Mini

It’s been a big month for Apple product launches, but the company isn’t done yet: It will unveil its first touchscreen MacBook Pro laptops and new iMac and iPad mini models next week.

Apple sent trusted bloggers and influencers an invitation today for a special event called “Pro and tell” that will be held next Wednesday, October 28 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET, in Los Angeles. Apple watcher Mark Gurman reports that the company will announce three new MacBook Pro models at the event alongside a new iMac and a new iPad mini. The new hardware will allegedly become available for sale a week later, on November 6.

For the MacBook Pro, Apple is prepping new 14- and 16-inch models with “significantly” lighter new form factors, a Dynamic Island replacing the notch, and a choice of M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Apple will also rev the base model 14-inch MacBook Pro using the current design but with M6 processors. The new iMac will apparently come in the same 24-inch body as the current version but will also feature an M6 processor and, possibly Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 capabilities. And the new iPad Mini will finally provide an OLED display plus a faster (A19 Pro or A20 Pro) processor, a repositioned FaceTime camera, and “revamped” speakers.

It’s been a busy month for Apple. After launching the iPhone Pro 18 series smartphones, the iPhone Duo foldable, the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, the AirPods 5 earbuds, and its ’27 OS releases in September, Apple announced its HomeView smart display alongside a new Apple TV 4K, a new HomePod mini 2 smart speaker, and third-party Apple Home Collection smart devices last week and then opened up the iPhone Duo for preorders.
