Surface Studio is Updated for Windows Mixed Reality

Surface Studio owners have quite a bit of updating to do: Today, the wildly expensive PC was provided with a complete firmware update overhaul similar to what we saw previously on other Surface PCs.

There’s no word (yet?) from the Surface Blog for IT Pros, but the Surface Studio Update History website does list the following firmware updates for today:

  • Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter – Bluetooth 15.68.9125.57 improves system security. NVIDIA – Display – 24.21.13.8927
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M – Display adapter 24.21.13.9827 improves system stability.
  • Surface UEFI – Firmware 118.2311.769.0 Improves wake from sleep and speech recognition.
  • Microsoft LifeCam Front – Imaging device 5.20.1034.2 improves system stability.
  • Surface Display – Monitors 1.0.25.0 improves system stability.
  • Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller – Network adapters 15.68.9125.57 improves system security.
  • Surface Pen Settings – Human Interface Devices 23.607.139.0 improves Pen performance.
  • NVIDIA High Definition Audio – Sound, video and game controllers 1.3.37.4 improves system stability.
  • Realtek High Definition Audio(SST) – Sound, video and game controllers 6.0.1.8242 improves Cortana Wake on Voice feature.
  • Realtek I2S Amp Device – Sound, video and game controllers 10.0.10586.17 improves system stability.
  • Detection Verification – System devices 1.0.98.0 improves system stability and Cortana performance.
  • Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller – System devices 9.21.0.3347 improves system stability and Cortana performance.
  • Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED – System devices 9.21.0.3347 improves system stability and Cortana performance.
  • Surface Integration – System devices 1.0.456.0 improves system stability.

Presumably, some recent mitigations for Meltdown and Spectre are included in there somewhere, as was the case previously for Surface Laptop and Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro (2017), Surface Book 2, and Surface Book.

That's the coolest device I will never own.

So, because you were not flying anywhere at the right time, Microsoft released this while Leo L was in the air instead.

Hopefully they are getting all these things done so will be incorporated into hopefully a new Surface Studio. If they do come out with one, I think I will sell off part of my mineral collection and buy one. If I knew they were coming out with a new one within next 6 months, I would definitely sell enough rocks and LEGO sets to buy one.

I take the fact that no Surface Studios are available for ordering online from the Microsoft Store as a hint of something to come soon. Any word?

Sounds like Microsoft has another quality problem!
