Windows 11 Insider Build 22635.2486 Lands on the Beta Channel

Windows 11 PC

Microsoft has released today the Windows 11 Insider build 22635.2486 for Beta Channel testers. This is the third build to be released on this channel since Microsoft stopped releasing two different builds with new features enabled or disabled.

As a reminder, Microsoft’s new approach regarding the Beta Channel is to ship the same build to all Insiders but to roll out new features gradually. The latest changes will start rolling out first to testers who have enabled the “Get the latest updates as they are available toggle” in Windows Update, though in some cases, some new features will be available for everyone in the Beta Channel.

In today’s build 22635.2486, there are three changes that will roll out gradually to Beta Channel testers. The first one is that Windows 11 system components in the ‘All apps’ view of the Start Menu will now show a “system” label. This label will be visible under apps like Settings, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Bar, and more.

Speaking of Xbox Game Bar, a Microsoft Store app update that’s now rolling out will change the name of the app to just “Game Bar.” This new name will appear in both the Start Menu and the Settings app.

Today’s build 22635.2486 will also disable the improved screen casting exprience that was previously introduced in the build 22631.2129. The Windows Insider team said that it will re-enable this new experience after fixing some bugs.

Lastly, Microsoft has fixed an issue causing the Start Menu to crash on launch on PCs where the display language is set to Czech or Slovak. Additionally, a bug causing the search icon in the taskbar to disappear when choosing the “search icon and label” style has been addressed. These two specific bug fixes are available for all Insiders on the Beta Channel.

Microsoft also released new Windows 11 preview builds for Insiders on the Canary and Dev Channel yesterday. The Canary build 25977 adds support for Bluetooth LE Audio hearing aids, while the Dev build 23570 brings the ability to access Windows Copilot across multiple monitors.
